Mixed Fruit Twisters

Mixed fruit twisters is an easy and healthy dessert choice for serving guests or making it as a snack for kids. It is a great desert for Vegetarians or Vegans. Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup white sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 3/4 cup butter /Margarine for vegan
- 6 tablespoons water
- 1/4 teaspoon lemon extract
- 1/4 cup mix preserved fruit
- 3 tablespoons milk
Tip : You can make this recipe more simple by replacing fruit preserve with Jam or Nutella spread
For strawberry dip (optional)
- 1 cup fresh strawberries
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
Mixed fruit twisters Recipe
In a bowl mix all dry ingredients together flour, sugar, salt, nutmeg, and baking powder.
Now add butter or vegetable oil until mixture looks like coarse crumbs.
Keep adding water, 1 tablespoon at a time until all is moistened and mix it gently to form dough.
Form the dough into a ball, cover and keep aside for about 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
To make the twisters divide the dough into 4 small balls. Roll two of the balls into 12 x 4-inch rectangles and apply mix fruit preserve. Roll the remaining two balls into 12 x 4-inch rectangles and carefully place over those spread with the preserves.
Cut each rectangle into twelve 4 x 1-inch strips. Twist each strip and pinch ends to seal. Place on a non greased baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes.
Remove from oven, brush with milk. Return to the oven and bake 5-8 minutes more or until done. Store in an air tight container until served.
Strawberry dip recipe
For making strawberry sauce put butter and sliced strawberries in a low heated pan.
Cook strawberries for about 5 -7 minutes in a covered pan.
After 5-7 minutes remove the lid and add sugar.
Let strawberries get marinated in sugar and close the gas after 3-5 minutes.
Let it cool down. Then grind it into a mixture. Make sure it has a sauce consistency.
