Hong Kong Disneyland visit – All you need to know!
Spread the love

Hong Kong Disneyland is located at Penny’s Bay, Lantau Island. If you are a Disney fan than Hongkong Disneyland is a wonderful place that offers great fun with Disney characters.  Hong Kong Disneyland is not too complicated. This blog covers most about getting there and tips for doing a pleasant trip, plus general info about attractions inside the theme park.

So let’s get started 🙂

How to reach Disneyland Theme park

MTR

An easy way to get to the Disneyland theme park is through Disneyland Resort MTR Station. You can reach this site on the MTR Disneyland Line, Disneyland Station. We as a family quiet liked the MTR service to travel around during our stay in Hong Kong. It was easy to use, cheap and convenient. I would highly recommend using the MTR to get to Hong Kong Disneyland and also to travel around the city.

The magical journey begins the moment you board the train for Disneyland resort from Sunny Bay Station. Disney characters will remind you of the Disney movies by representing them throughout your journey. Trains to Disneyland have Mickey Mouse head-shaped windows and hand grips, as well as Disney character statues inside the train, on the train stations or waiting areas.

Private Transfer to Hong Kong Disneyland

If you don’t want to follow the timetables and get into changing transportation, a private transfer service is well worth considering. You can pre book the trip yourself to save time and hassle. I suggest pick up a Hong Kong Disneyland Admission with Transport through a travel agent. This comes with hotel pickup, general admission ticket, and an MTR pass (which you need ultimately) to either Hong Kong or Kowloon to get you back at the end of the day.

Taxi or Buses

One can also take a direct taxi or a bus to nearest bus terminal to the theme park. A Taxi to Disneyland from Central costs approximately HK 240 (US$31) and from Tsim Sha Tsui HK 180 (US$23) depending on traffic conditions and your exact location. The journey takes a little longer as compared to MTR and taxis are a bit small to accommodate family luggage, so I would not recommend it.

Disneyland Hong Kong Opening Hours

The opening hours for Hong Kong Disneyland can vary almost on a daily basis. November & December the earliest opening time is 10 am and the latest closing time is 9 pm. while in January 2019 the park closes a little earlier (sometimes closing as early as 7:30 pm).

The best advice is to check the Hong Kong Disneyland park calendar  for the date/ month/you are planning to visit the park.

Tickets & Entrance

Hong Kong Disneyland is a one-day theme park. However, a two-day ticket could represent good value for hardcore Disney fans who want to experience everything. The park is smaller in size and the average daily attendance is also lower than the other four Disneyland parks. It is well organized to avoid any waiting time at the entrance. If you are staying in one of the Disneyland resort Hotels bus service is available from all resort hotels to the theme park. Disneyland Hong Kong tickets can be bought in below ways –

  • Online tickets through Disneyland theme park’s official website. Check for special offers
  • Through a travel agency,
  • At Hong Kong International Airport at the Magic of Disneyland store
  • Through the Hong Kong Disneyland Ticket Express at the MTR Hong Kong Station.
  • Hongkong Disneyland Ticket can also be purchased when you get to the park entrance.
  • Get Discounted Disneyland Hong Kong Tickets through Klook

The benefit of buying tickets online is that when you arrive at Disneyland you can simply present your printed voucher and enter the park hassle free.

Download Hong Kong Disneyland App

The good thing is WiFi network is available through most of the park, and is generally reliable. So I strongly recommend you to download the Disneyland mobile app .It may be a small park, but to get a sense of wait times for rides and other attractions before you actually visit this app is very useful. It is a great thing that this app provides you a built-in GPS-enabled map. Where you can check show schedules, helps locate Disney characters and it also provides 1-tap calling to make restaurant reservations. It is a good source that makes you avoid walking aimlessly in any direction.

All about Disneyland resort stay

During our trip to Hong Kong, for most of the time we stayed in Kowloon but we chose to spend one night at the Disney’s Hollywood Hotel. We had also never stayed at a Disney hotel so staying there was a totally new experience for us. It was a lot of fun exploring the ambiance of the hotel. lovely Disney themed amenities and experiencing its great surroundings. In Disneyland resort there are three Hotels for staying within the park.

The Victorian themed Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel  is still very much a hotel for kids where the friendliness of the staff will make you feel comfy and welcomed.

Disney’s Explorers lodge  which is the largest property with 4 distinct gardens , 3 dining areas and outdoor swimming pool. This hotel gives an exotic feel of being in Disneyland.

Disney’s Hollywood Hotel is an affordable option to relax and unwind with family. All these hotels have an element of Disney magic, but are different in their style and amenities. All three hotels are located within a short walk or shuttle bus ride from the Disneyland theme park.

Best time to visit Disneyland Hong Kong

We went to Hong kong in the month of  January. It was a nice Sunny winter morning when we reached Disneyland theme park. Us and kids were able to make the most of our trip because of the good weather. I would not recommend you visiting Disneyland in summertime especially between May to September. During the summer tourist season the crowds and humidity are high. You don’t to walk so much while wiping your sweat. I’ve heard that crowds can be very high during weekends and public holidays.

Hope you got all the information that could help you to make most of your visit to Hong kong Disneyland resort and see the magic of Disney. Do share your Disneyland experience with me.
