Sharjah is an emirate that believes in preserving its heritage and maintaining its cultural identity. Though Sharjah is not nearly as new and fancy as Dubai and Abudhabi, it is slowly becoming a popular tourist destination for anyone who wants to see cultural side of the UAE. Sharjah not only  takes a more subtle approach to concentrate on culture and history but also with offers family excursions on a budget. Following are some of the places to visit while you are in Sharjah.

Sharjah Museums

Sharjah gives one an opportunity to explore some of the best museums in the U.A.E like Sharjah Art Museum , Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization, Sharjah Heritage Museum, Sharjah science Museum & Sharjah discovery center (for kids).Most of the Museums have a nominal entry charge of under AED 20 for Adults and under AED 15 for the kids.

Qanat Al Qasba 

It gives me a lovely feeling to visit this canal side modern family evening place. It has so many eating joints offering different cuisines. Kid’s activities like indoor and outdoor play areas, carousels, boat rides, rental bikes and shops. Al Qasba has something to offer for everyone. I spot elderly people sitting and reading some books on the canal side benches or looking at the sky high residential buildings around.  This place being open air, evenings and winter season is the best time to visit.

Al Majaz Waterfront

Al Majaz waterfront is surrounded by a beautiful park. It has water facing dining options at some of the fancy eateries. At Majaz offers a lovely dancing fountain show every evening that is a treat to eyes for all age groups. It is An ideal place to relax and have a family time in the Majaz park. Blue Souq

Blue souq building is a wonderful piece of architecture as it comprises of two parallel buildings with arched windows and blue tiles with floral designs and more than 600 stores to shop from. As you enter there are stalls for clothing, jewelry and watches. Some of them are offering good discounts and others are looking for bargain hunters. On the first floor one can buy carpets, lamps and artifacts. Blue souq should be on your list not only for shopping but for its traditional architecture.

Al Noor Island

Al Noor Island is like a beautiful oasis in the middle of the city. With picturesque views of natural beauty and several selfie spots. It offers a sand playground with an obstacle course and a small Butterfly house for kids. It is a nice place for adults to have a stroll around the extensive gardens or to Just breathe and feel the surroundings away from the hustle bustle of the city life. I suggest you carry some snacks and books. There is a lovely rest area with lots of comfy sitting where one can sit and read.

Al Shaab Village

Al Shaab village is an ultimate budget shopping destination. It is a vibrant place with open air rides and food outlets as well as an indoor ice rink for kids. All kinds of eating options are available for foodies from food trucks to small cafes to family restaurants. Bargain hunters can buy clothes, footwear, bags, toys and mobile accessories at a decent price.
